The station is connected to the line for the Palermo - Punta Raisi airport of the metropolitan railway service, in operation since 1886; the entrance to the station is located on Piazza Giulio Cesare.
The structure that houses the station is very characteristic: some spaces, such as the waiting room are enriched with classical Renaissance pictorial decorations from the 19th century, as well as the style of the facade of the structure belongs to the same period. The station consists of a basement where there are technical rooms and warehouses, a ground floor where there are platforms and services that are offered to travellers and the upper floors where there are warehouses and offices. The station also has the following services: ticket office, luggage storage, lost property office, railway police station, first aid station, post office, waiting room, toilets, tourist information office, restaurant, bar, shops, parking.
